Butterfly Valve
A butterfly valve, also known as a flap valve, is a simple structured regulating valve used for on-off control of low-pressure pipeline media. It features a closing element (disc or butterfly plate) in the shape of a disc that rotates around the valve shaft to open or close. The valve can control the flow of various types of fluids such as air, water, steam, various corrosive media, slurry, oil, liquid metal, and other media. It primarily serves to cut off and throttle flow in pipelines. The opening and closing component is a disc-shaped butterfly plate that rotates around its own axis within the valve body to achieve opening, closing, or regulation.
It mainly consists of the valve body, valve stem, butterfly plate, and sealing ring. The valve body is cylindrical with a short axial length and houses the butterfly plate internally.
Working Principle
The butterfly plate is driven by the valve stem. A 90° rotation completes one open-close cycle. By changing the deflection angle of the butterfly plate, the flow rate of the medium can be controlled.
Application Conditions and Media: Butterfly valves are suitable for pipelines conveying various corrosive and non-corrosive fluid media in engineering systems such as generators, gas, natural gas, hydraulic oil plants, city gas, cold and hot air, chemical smelting, power generation environmental protection, and building water supply and drainage. They are used to regulate and cut off the flow of media.
Function and Use
A butterfly valve (English: butterfly valve) refers to a valve where the closing element (disc or butterfly plate) is a disc that rotates around the valve shaft to open and close, primarily serving to cut off and throttle flow in pipelines. The opening and closing component is a disc-shaped butterfly plate that rotates around its own axis within the valve body to achieve opening, closing, or regulation. The full open to full close rotation is typically less than 90°. The butterfly valve and stem themselves do not have self-locking capability. To position the butterfly plate, a worm gear reducer is added to the valve stem. Using a worm gear reducer not only allows the butterfly plate to self-lock and stop at any position but also improves the valve's operability. Industrial butterfly valves are characterized by their ability to withstand high temperatures, suitability for higher pressure ranges, large nominal diameters, valve bodies made of carbon steel, and metal rings replacing rubber rings for the disc's sealing ring. Large high-temperature butterfly valves are manufactured by steel plate welding and are mainly used in flue gas ducts and gas pipelines for high-temperature media. When ordering, please specify:
